Funeral services for Eleanor Hardisty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hardisty were held at her home east of Greenfield, Sunday morning at 10:30. The Reverend Mrs. C. A. Carlson conducted the services. Members of the Clara Chapel Choir sang, "Precious Jewels" and "Sometime We'll Understand." a second service was held at Quincy, Iowa at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Carlson in charge of the service. Her four brothers served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Quincy Cemetery.
Eleanor May Hardisty, daughter of Elmer and Maggie Hardisty, was born May 27, 1923 near Bridgewater, Iowa, and passed away at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, October 4, 1929 at the age of 6 years, 4 months, and 7 days. Little Eleanor became ill last Saturday and becoming worse Monday was taken to the hospital at Des Moines where she underwent an operation for appendicitis, Thursday morning and rallied from the operation, but passed away Friday morning at 1:26 o'clock. She was a child of a lovable and kind disposition, which endeared her in the heart of all her schoolmates, teachers, and friends and the found memories of her short life are cherished by the members of her immediate family. A large concourse of friends present at both funerals and the beautiful floral offerings are a tribute of the esteem and respect with which she was held by all. She is survived by her parents, four brothers, and five sisters and two cousins, Vera and Edith Steadman, who have made their home with the Hardisty family and spent their life with her, all of whom mourn her loss. They are, Mrs. Florence Nielsen, near Bridgewater, Forrest, near Carl, Iowa; Loren, near Orient, Iowa, Vera, Ivan, LaVerne, Ida, Darlene, and Evelyn at home. Relatives from a distance in attendance: her aunt, Mrs. Sarah Mahoney, Uncle George Mack and Charles Gulick of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; an uncle Tom Mack and son of Clarinda, Iowa; Albert, Rudolph, Olinda Clausen and sister of Wiota; from Bridgewater, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hinek and daughter Grace; Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Kembery and daughters, Clarice and Gertie; Mrs. Agnes Gardner and family; Mr. and Mrs. Will Wylite, Sr., and family and Mr. and Mrs. Hal Goodale.
