Services Are Held For Harry Herring
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Corning for Harry Gilbert Herring, who died in Rosary Hospital there Oct. 4. Conducted by Rev. F. H. Cowles of Bedford, the services were held in the Rolland Funeral Home with burial in Prairie Rose cemetery.
The son of Douglas Winfield and Rhoda [Elizabeth Posten] Herring, he was born in Taylor County June 12, 1884. He was 68 years, six months and 23 days old at the time of his death.
On April 18, 1906, he was united in marriage to Lula Foster at Corning, Iowa. To this union seven children were born.
He is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter, Erve Herring of Bedford, Mrs. Leola Elwood of Red Oak, Gene and Glen of Corning, Francis Herring of Red Oak, Donald Herring of Corning.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Bessie Murdock of Le Mars, Mrs. Della Powell of Los Angeles, Mrs. Mayme Gold of Seymour, Iowa, Mrs. Bertha Fleming of Gravity, Mrs. Lois Sickler of Corning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a son, Floyd Elmer, who passed away Oct. 9, 1943.
Mr. Herring spent his entire life in Taylor and Adams counties.
