Nodaway and vicinity was grieved Sunday to learn of the death of Mrs. Moses Garrett Simpson, a pioneer resident of Nodaway who passed away at 11:00 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Brown in Atlantic, Iowa. Death resulting from goiter. Miss Florence Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hall, was born February 2, 1855 and was 71 years old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage in 1877 to Moses Garrison Simpson and to this union five children were born, namely: Mrs. Winnie Brown of Atlantic, Howard of Nodaway, Charles of Anderson, Nebraska, Harry of Los Angles and Mrs. Elnora Warner of Wray, Colorado. Shortly after her marriage, she moved to Nodaway with her family where she resided for more than forty years. Her husband established a general merchandise store in Nodaway in the pioneer days which still bears his name. Mr. Simpson preceded his wife in death twelve years ago. Since his death Mrs. Simpson has made her home most of the time with her children. She was a woman widely known and well respected by all who knew her. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Nodaway for more than forty years and the highest tribute that can be paid to a mortal soul can well be said of her that is "She was a good Woman."
Besides here children who were all present at her funeral, she is survived by nine grandchildren and two sisters. The sisters are Mrs. Farren of Flint, Michigan and Mrs. Palmer of gage town, Michigan.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway, conducted by Rev. Silas Overholser, a former Nodaway pastor. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery beside the husband of the deceased.
