Claudine Shuler Leonard, the daughter of Henry and Ida Myers Shuler, was born April 1, 1898 in Taylor County Iowa, near Iveyville and passed away May 23, 1986 at Colonial Manor at Corning, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 22 days.
Mrs. Leonard grew to womanhood near Iveyville and attended school at Corning.
She was united in marriage October 22, 1919 with Ray Leonard. Two sons were born to bless this union, Delman and Harold.
Following the death of her husband in 1946, she remained on the family farm near Bushville until 1950. At that time she moved to Corning and cared for her mother until her death in 1956. Later that year she became an employee of Roy and Jessie Krauth's Nursing Home. She spent the next 17 years lovingly caring for the residents.
Claudine's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a sours of great joy to her.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ray, her parents, a sister Kathryn and two brothers, John and Myron Shuler.
Survivors include her two sons, Delman and wife Claudine of Long Beach, California and Harold and wife Lillian of rural Corning; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Holbrook of Corning and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Gauthier Funeral Home in Corning, May 25 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Howard Wells, officiating. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery, Corning.
Music was provided by Kathy Schafer, organist and vocalist. Casket bearers were Roy Krauth, Lloyd Leonard, Gerald Strait, Robert Thomsa, Russell Vogel, and Arnold Leonard.
