Betty Jane (Law) Hill was born October 21, 1921, in Corning, Iowa the
daughter of George Henry Law and Dorothy Luanna (Connor) Law.
From the age of 18 months, Betty was raised by her aunt and uncle,
Jessie and Tracy Kepner. She was a lifelong Corning resident, graduating
from the Corning High School with the Class of 1939. She met Jack Hill
who was from Lenox at the Candy Kitchen in Corning and on December 22,
1940, the couple were united in marriage in Prescott. Four children were
born to bless their lives. They lived in Corning where Betty was employed
as a bookkeeper at Sickler Chevrolet and had also been a long-time
associate of Dr. Bain where she helped put in the office, finishing up her
career at the ASCS Office.
Betty was a very active member of the Corning Christian Church where
she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and also played as a pianist
and organist for many years. Her social life seemed to revolve around her
church and the activities there. She was also a member of the New Few
Club. Betty enjoyed reading and quilting, and served many years as a
Cub Scout Leader and Den Mother. Betty was very content raising her
family and keeping active in her church. She was a very well-read
woman, being knowledgeable about many subjects.
Jack and Betty shared over sixty-one years of happiness together.
They loved their family and enjoyed spending time with their grand
children and greatgrandchildren. They enjoyed their many friends
both in Corning and in the Lenox area.
Left to cherish Betty's memory are her two sons, Dennis Hill and
wife Paulette of Middle Amana, Iowa; and Jon Hill of Corning; a
daughter, Luann McLaren and husband Doug of Griswold; a brother,
George Law, Jr., and wife Barb of Corning; a sister, Mary Fees of
Corning; six grandchildren, LeAnn Erickson, Michael Hill, Heather
Haines, Kelly Turner, Traci Knoll and Dillon Combs; fifteen great
grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
