Jarrod Dean Cline was born November 26, 1995, in Omaha, Nebraska the son of Mike and Marnie
(Wilson) Cline. He lost his courageous battle with brain cancer on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at his
home in rural Prescott. He would have been a fourth grader at the Prescott Elementary School
next month.
Jarrod was active in baseball, soccer and basketball in the Corning and Prescott Athletic Clubs.
He was also a Discovery Member of the Prescott 4-H Worker's Club and a member of the Disciples
of Christ Church in Prescott where he enjoyed serving as a candle lighter.
Jarrod was an active young man, mature beyond his years. He was an outdoorsman, who looked
forward to hunting all kinds of wild game. His serious demeanor and competitive nature was evident
in everything he did. When it was turkey season, he would dress in his camouflage, setup the decoys
in the yard by the tree, and practice 'being still and calling in the turkeys'.
Jarrod was a gifted athlete who enjoyed all sports, but probably baseball was his favorite, not
only because he could bat right or left handed by age three, but also on the advice of his dad,
that baseball would make him the most money, and we all know how he liked to hoard money! To
Jarrod, anything worth doing, meant giving 100%, it meant not being intimidated even if the
competition was a lot bigger. A point Jarrod illustrated on a family vacation to Daytona where
he beat all of the college boys in a racing simulation game. He enjoyed NASCAR and watching Jeff
Gordon, and would attend the races in Corning whenever he could.
Even though he has left us at a young age, Jarrod taught us many things through his actions and
determination, and we are all better because of it.
Left to cherish Jarrod's memory are his parents Michael and Marnie, a younger sister Morgan
Elizabeth and younger brother Tristan Leland Tyler, all of rural Prescott; paternal grandparents,
Reldon and Jean Cline of Corning; maternal grandparents, C. Wayne and Cheryl Wilson of Lenox;
great grandparents Leland and Margie Wilson of Creston; and Shirley Leib of Greenfield;
aunt Marcy (Cline) and uncle Tyler Edwards of Corning; aunt Deborah (Wilson) and uncle Eric
Casebolt of Iowa City, Iowa; aunt Michelle (Wages) and uncle Terry Brown of Cheshire,
Connecticut; aunt Stacie (Eshelman) and uncle Todd Hull of Prescott; and uncle Mark and aunt Ragan
Eshelman of Ankeny; six cousins and many other relatives and very close friends.
Jarrod is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mary Elizabeth (Smith) Wilson.
