Chester A. Ruth, the son of John and Lulu Ruth, was born December 24, 1900 in Carbon, Adams County, Iowa and passed away at the St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City, Nebraska, September 12, 1981, at the age of 80 years, 8 months, and 18 days.
On November 16, 1928, he was united in marriage to Alta May Hunter at the United Methodist Church in Corning, Iowa, by the Rev. Roberts. Three children were born to this union, James, Alberta, and Chester Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruth lived all their lives at Carbon, Iowa, until moving to Nebraska City in 1970 and have made their home there since that time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Albert Ruth, who died in infancy, one sister, and three brothers.
Those surviving to honor his memory are his wife, Alta May Ruth of Nebraska City, Nebraska, one son, Chester Ruth Jr., of Percival, Iowa, a daughter, Alberta Lynn of Tucumcari, New Mexico, one grandson and three granddaughters; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Larkin-Roland Funeral Home in Corning September 15 at 2:00 p.m. with Joe Cook officiating. Burial was in the Quincy Cemetery, Corning, Iowa.
Pall bearers were John Hunter, Alfred Hunter, Lewis Hunter, Hollas Shone, Jack Graham, and Donald Hill. Music was furnished by Kathy Schafer organist and soloist.
