LAWRENCE WESTLAKE
Lawrence Jackson Westlake, oldest son of Arthur and Myrtle Clark Westlake, was born Dec. 24, 1903 in Montgomery County, Iowa. On January 9, 1925 he was married to Grace Cochran at Red Oak. lowa.
To this union eleven children were born, Norval Dean of Portland, Ore., June Thompson and husband Charley of Villisca, Cheryl Simmons and husband George of Villisca, Phyllis Sink and husband Millard of Corning, Rucille (Pat) and wife Mary of Lees Summit, Mo., Jerry and wife Kay of Glenwood, Jack and wife Earleen of Lees Summit, Mo., Lowell and Max of Corning, Donna and husband of Red Oak,
and Rona and husband Gary of Trenton, Mo.; twenty-eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He farmed in Adams county until 1950. He also worked in Nebraska, South Dakota, and various places until later moving to Oregon where he resided until two months ago when he moved to Arizona where he passed away February 3, 1975, at the age of 71 years, 1 month, and 12 days.
He is survived by his eleven children and families, one brother Don of Portland, Ore.; three sisters, Ethel Shipley of Nodaway, Maxine Wilkinson of Golden, Colorado, and Grace Medders of Ft. Calhoun, Nebr.
Funeral services were held February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Hone in Corning, with Joe Cook officiating. Music was provided by Donna Peckham.
Pallbearers were Melville Olive, Elmer Olive, Arthur Palmer, Meivin McKay, Francis Roland and Mahlon Carothers. Interment was in Prairie Rose Cemetery.
