Mrs. Wesley Homan died last Wednesday afternoon, after a week's illness of congestion of the bowels, aged 74 years, 5 months and 3 days.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Adams County First Baptist Church and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. Guy Prather. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church.
Mary E. VanCleve was born March 31, 1833, in Montgomery county, Indiana, where she was married to John Deer in 1850. They removed to this county in 1852. Four children were born to them, the living being Simeon Deer and W. D. Deer, of this county, and J. N. Deer, of Iola, Kansas. In 1863, the husband went to the civil war and died in Helena, Arkansas, having contracted the measles. She was remarried in 1865 to Wesley Homan and six children were born to them. They are R. S. Homan, of Carl township; Mrs. R. T. Falconer, of Prescott township; Ed Homan, of Sobers, Arkansas; J. N. Homan, of Ridgeway, Missouri; W. M. Homan, of Chicago, Illinois; Morton Homan of Des Moines.
