Funeral services for Laura Jacobson, 83, of 3391 Elizabeth Avenue, Lynwood, California, who passed away October 1,1958, at the Rio Hondo Memorial Hospital in Downey, were held at 10:00 a.m. in the Lynwood Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in Inglewood Park Cemetery. Laura Jacobson, daughter of Samuel Dudley and Emma D. Hathaway, was born in Clay Center, Kansas on March 21, 1875. She moved with her family to Cromwell, Iowa, in 1891 and completed her schooling in Afton, Iowa, and at Iowa State Teacher's College. She taught in rural schools around Creston until her marriage to William Jacobson, a widower with three small children. For many years the family lived in College Springs, Iowa, where Mr. Jacobson was in the mercantile business. Mrs. Jacobson took an active part in PTA, the WCTU and in many kinds of church work. In 1929, she moved with her husband and daughter, Sybil, to Lynwood, where she made a wide circle of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1942 and by her sister, Mrs. Franc Sparr of Cromwell, Iowa in 1956. She is survived by her three daughters, Mrs. Faith Ralston of Monmouth, Illinois, Miss Phyllis of Long Beach and Miss Sybil of Lynwood, and by two granddaughters of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
