Henry Howard, son of George and Elizabeth Thompson Howard was born near Nodaway on the 3rd of March 1879. At the time of his death he was 76 years, 6 months, and 24 days.
On November 4, 1903, he was united in marriage with Clara Hyzer. To this union were born four children, Andrew G. of Ottumwa, Ferderick T. of Oak Ridge, Tennessee who because of his recent illness was unable to be here, Elizabeth Swanson of Stanton, and Esther Hedstrom of Villisca.
Besides his wife, who is in the Corning Nursing Home and children, he is survived by one sister, Olive Moser of Nodaway and 12 grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his sister, Lulu Dunn and one brother, Oliver.
Mr. Howard made his home in and around Nodaway all his life. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church in Nodaway in 1896. He had been in failing health over since a stroke eight years ago and passed away at the Corning Nursing Home Wednesday morning, after having another stroke five days before.
Services were held in the Methodist Church at Nodaway, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Don Gilbert officiating. Music was by Mrs. Rose Stalder, Cecil Weaver, accompanied by Mrs. Martin Taylor at the piano, sand, "Shadows" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Casket bearers were George Carmichael, Gilbert Rider, Raymond Spring, Bob Smith, Emmet Miller, and Duane Pond. Flower bearers were Mrs. Emmet Miller, Mrs. Clyde Vaughn, Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
