Mrs. Howe Smith received word of the death of Miss Dorothy Cundy, the daughter of her nephew, Jesse E. Cundy in Cedar Falls The young lady passed away Monday, March 21, 1921. The following article concerning Miss Cundy is from the Cedar Falls Paper:
Dorothy Cundy, 17 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jesse E. Cundy, died very suddenly at 7:30 this morning, after three days illness with scarlet fever. She was at the farm home of her parents about two miles southwest of the city, having been placed under quarantine Friday. The sudden demise was a distinct shock to the member of her family, as she had seemed much improved yesterday and early this morning. She complained shortly before her death of a soreness in her throat upon which her mother called the physician, but death came before his arrival.
Deceased was the oldest child of grief stricken parents and a very popular girl among her schoolmates. She was preparing for graduation from the teachers college high school in June. Three other children in addition to her parents survive. Two of the children also had the disease, but one has now practically recovered.
Dr. Eugene Allen, of the Methodist Church will offer a prayer at the home at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning. The funeral will be private and interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery.
