Raymond Earl Norcutt passed away at his home in Corning, April 16, 1944, following an illness of ten years. He was cheerful and patient through all the years of his invalidism in spite of the fact that he was unable to be out of doors except for short, intervals, and was subject to great pain. He will be greatly missed from his circle of relatives and friends, and the community extends sincere. sympathy to the bereaved family.
Raymond Earl Norcutt was born in Nodaway, Iowa, March 23, 1902, the son Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Norcutt. He lived in Nodaway, and grew to manhood there, operating a trucking business and marrying Miss Viola Esther Houck on March 31, 1921, in Maryville, Missouri, continuing to reside in Nodaway until 1936, when they moved to Corning and have since made this their home.
Besides his wife, four children are left to mourn his passing, Mrs. Frances Jean Davis, San Diego, California, Robert E. Norcutt, U. S. Navy, Washington, D.C., Mrs. Beatrice Seward, Corning and Verena Mae, Corning. An infant son and daughter preceded the father in death. Others surviving relatives are his mother, Mrs. May Norcutt, two sisters, Mrs. Harold Everett and Mrs. Bess McCoy, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 1944 at the Methodist Church in Nodaway conducted by Rev. F. G. Barnes. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery. Pall bearers were Wm. Houck, Ken Houck, Harold Everett, Clarence Gile, Wm. Barker, and Jim Barker.
