Thomas Lacox, son of John and Amanda Lacox was Shawnee County, Kansas on October 3rd in the year of 1880 and passed away from this life at the home of his mother near Nodaway, Iowa on October 11th, 1924, at the age of 44 years and 8 days.
When three weeks of age he moved with his parents to Adams County, Iowa, where he has since made his home.
On September 6, 1908, he was united in marriage to Martha Moore, who preceded him in death April 13, 1923. To this union two girls were born, Eva and Vera.
Some time ago the deceased was converted and baptized in the Christian faith and has since lived a true and faithful Christian life. The cheerful and uncomplaining way in which he here up under the insidious malady with which he was stricken, gave evidence of a beautiful faith and comforting hope. Besides the two daughters, Eva age 14 and Vera age 10, he leaves to mourn his departure his mother, Mrs. Amanda Lacox, a sister, Mamie, and four brothers, Elver, Albert, John, and Emory, all of Nodaway. His father, two sisters, Nora and Myrtle and one brother, William have preceded him in death.
He was a valued member of the loyal Masonic order with which he had been affiliated a number of years. His death marks the passing of a kind father and brother, a citizen most worthy of the community's respect.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Silas Overholser, assisted by Rev. P. H. Hicks and Rev. Claud Fansmunch. The later part of the services were in charge of Thomas Beaumont, Deputy Master of the Masonic order of Creston. Interment was made in the Methodist Church.
