Brown, Allen P. –
Allen P. Brown was born September 20, 1854 in McClain county, Illinois and died at his home in Prescott, Ia. January 23, 1943 at the age of 88 years, four months and three days. He came to Iowa about fifty years ago and engaged in farming.

In 1876 he was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Campbell who preceded him in death 21 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Brown were the parents of seven children, two of whom preceded their father in death.

They were Robert, who died in 1939, and Orven whose death occurred nine years ago. Surviving children are Gertrude and Alfred Brown of Prescott, Mrs. Grace McIlravy of Kent, Joe, of Lenox and Mrs. Myrtle Molyneux of Blooming Prairie, Minn. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers, D. R. Brown of Bloomington, Ill. and L. L. Brown of Las Vegas, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Mohr and Lizzie Brown of Prescott, and a number of nieces and nephews. Two grandsons are in the service. They are Darrell Molyneux and La Verne Brown.

When a boy Mr. Brown united with the Christian church and has been a devoted and faithful follower of the Master. He was active in church life and for many years was a member of the church board. One of his greatest regrets was that he could not attend services for the past several years on account of his impaired health.

About 25 years ago Mr. Brown and his family retired from active life on the farm and moved to town.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. E. F. Hagee, were held Tuesday from the Prescott Christian church. Burial was in Prescott cemetery.
