Bush, Lemuel C. -
Lemuel C. Bush, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bush, was born in Ohio, August 27, 1848, and died at his home in Corning Friday, May 16, 1930, at the age of 81 years, 9 months, and 15 days.
He came from Ohio to Jefferson county, Iowa, when a small boy, and in the year 1875, came to Adams county where he resided on farm, and in 1918 moved to Corning where he spent the remainder of his life.
He was united in marriage to Leona Lowery, March 9, 1887, and to this union were born three children Leroy, Monard. and Blanche. The latter died in infancy.
He is survived by his widow, and two sons, Leroy and Monard, both of Kent, and six grandchildren, and a host of friends. Three brothers Martin, Robert, and Elza, and two sisters, Emma and Nettie, all of Fairfield, also survive him.
Four sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
At the age of forty-five he united with the Wesley Chapel M. E church in Grant township. Mr. Bush always stood for the things that were right, enjoying the highest respect and esteem of all who had known him during his long and useful life. He was a kind husband and father and an ever obliging neighbor. He will be greatly missed and his loss sincerely mourned.
A short funeral service was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:15 conducted by Rev. Arthur Henry, pastor of the Stringtown church. Funeral services were then held at the Stringtown church at 2:30, conducted by Rev. E. S. Menoher of Mt. Ayr assisted by Rev. Henry. Interment was made in the Stringtown cemetery.
