The remains of Mrs. Sarah Ann Scrivens Winstone, relict of the late W.J. Winstone, of Brooks, Iowa, were brought to the old home on Wednesday. Her death occurred last Saturday, September 6, 1919, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ella Elsiminger, of Denver, of heart trouble and ailments incident to old age.

She was born in Gloucestershire, England, in 1836, where she grew to womanhood and where her marriage to W. J. Winstone took place, August 14, 1859, and where they continued to reside until 1871, when they came to America and in 1875 located near Brooks, Iowa, where they continued their long and honored residence and where the husband and father died June 8, 1912.

The funeral of Mrs. Winstone was held on Thursday afternoon, September 11, 1919, from the Presbyterian Church south of Brooks, conducted by Rev. Harry Posten, of North Dakota, formerly of Nodaway, and who conducted the funeral of Mr. Winstone. Interment was made in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Winstone were among the early members of the church from which the funeral was held and always were active and faithful members. To them were born nine children; seven daughters and two sons, all were present at the funeral except Mrs. B. D. Strait. The children are Mrs. C.H. Carlton of Chester, Oklahoma, Mrs. George Walker of Brooks, Iowa, Mrs. Ella Elsiminger of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. W.S. Evans of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma, Mrs. F.M. Walker of Brunning, Nebraska, W.J. Winstone, Jr. of Chickasha,Oklahoma, Mrs. George McCreedy of Brooks,Iowa, Mrs. B.D. Strait of Forsyth, Montana and Charles F. Winstone of Brooks, Iowa. She was aged 83 years, 3 months and 1 day.
