Augut 19, 1993, Page 2Cordelia Mae Walter Pond, 89, was born to Edward and Hattie White Walter, April 30, 1904, in Adams County, Iowa. She died at the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa, Saturday, August 7, 1993, where she had been a resident since November, 1976.
Mrs. Pond graduated from Villisca High School in 1923 and taught rural schools several years. She married Duane E. Pond, July 15, 1928, and lived 31 years in the Nodaway vicinity. They were the parents of eight children.
Preceding her in death were her husband; two children, Leora Pundt and Robert Pond; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Harlan (Dorothy) of Nodaway, Iowa; and five daughters, Barbara (Wayne) Pulley, Las Vegas, Nevada, Shirley (George) Whitmore, Omaha, Nebraska, Joyce (Bill) Welch, Des Moines, Iowa, Janice Woodard of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Pond and son-in-law, Bill Pundt; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held August 10, 1993, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa, Rev. Rusty Hedger officiating. Burial was in the Logan Cemetery. Casket bearers were grandsons, Larry Pond, George Whitmoe Jr., Michael Burch, David Welch, Richard Woodard, Daniel Welch, Dale Crowell, James Burch and Greg Whitmore.
