Mrs. Corah Bender, wife of Walter Bender, died at her home in Brooks, Iowa, Sunday morning, April 10. 1898. For two years she had been subject to epileptic fits, which caused her death. In the last hours of her life her sufferings were fearful. In the twelve hours from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturay she had thirty-seven fits.

Mrs. Bender was born in Adams County, February 17, 1868, as Corah White. She was the daughter of Alfred White and Elizabeth White Bryson of Brooks, Iowa. Mrs. Bender lived her entire life in Adams County having been married about ten years ago to Mr. Walter Bender, who is now in the west. One child, now seven years old, was born to them.

The funeral was held Monday, April 11, 1898, at 11 a.m. at the Christian Church at Brooks, in charge of Rev. Joseph Peregrine. The burial was at the old family place near Nodaway, Iowa, where Mrs. Bender was born. Mrs. Bender was a member of the Christian Church and during her sufferings bore up with Christian fortitude.
