The death of Mrs. David Bender, mention of which was made last week, occurred December 8, 1912, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Allen who resides at Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was aged 94 years, 3 months and 19 days.

The remains were shipped to Corning, Iowa, her old home, arriving here last Saturday evening. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church, conducted by a former pastor, Rev.L.H. Fuller, of Prescott, assisted by Rev. Charles Marshall, pastor of the Congregational Church. Interment was made at Walnut Grove Cemetery beside her husband who died in 1892.

Sarah Ann Quear was born August 16, 1828, near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was married to David Bender in May 1846. Five daughters and six sons were born to them, eight of whom survive. They are Simon Bender, Mrs. Laura Allen and Miss Hattie Bender of Guthrie, Oklahoma; I.W.Bender of Chicago, Illinois; J.E. Bender and John B. Bender of Oakland, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Rawson and H.S. Bender of Corning, Iowa. All were in attendance at the funeral of their mother except Mrs. Allen and Miss Hattie.

In 1852 the family removed to Johnson County, Iowa, where they lived until 1881, when they came to Corning. Mrs. Bender left Corning in 1900 going to Oakland, Iowa, where she made her home with her son, J.E. Bender, until 1904, then to Guthrie, Oklahoma, and spent the remainder of her life with her daughter, Mrs. Allen. She was a member of the Church of Christ,, living a simple devoted Christian life. Mrs. Bender leaves many friends in Corning.
