February 6, 1941, Page 12The death of John White, a life-time resident of Adams County, was a shock to many people who did not know of his recent illness, or that it was of a critical nature. Mr. White passed away at 3:05 Saturday afternoon at his home. Mr. White had been a victim of diabetes for the past three years and recently suffered an attack of the influenza, which developed into pneumonia. It was thought he was much better, but took a sudden turn for the worse last Friday morning and grew rapidly worse until his passing.
John Leslie White, son of Charles and Amelia Walker White, was born July 4, 1897, on a farm in Adams County three and one-half miles west of Corning and died February 1st, 1941.
Mr. White was married to Anna Lynch, August 24, 1933, who survives him. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; Alfred and Carl of Cresco, Iowa; Mrs. Will Shea of Creston, Iowa and Mrs. Lum Bowman of Corning, Iowa; and many friends who grieve with the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother having died September 6, 1930, also four brothers.
While Mr. White did not hold membership with any church, yet he felt that he was truly converted and held no fear of the future. He was a kindly and home loving man, who was always ready to perform some helpful deed or speak a kindly word.
Funeral services were held from the Boyd Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Thurman Bowen. Interment was made in the Brooks Cemetery.
