March 10, 1988, page 2Final rites were conducted Monday, March 7, 1988, for Elmer R. Bowman, 74, of Clark, South Dakota, at the Roland-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Corning, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Bowman officiating.
Casket bearer were Marshall Miller, Kenny Bowman, Jeremy Owens, Jerry Kinder, Rick Hart and Russell Hedinger. Honorary bearers were Art Kapple, Orville Liddell, Dale Bowman and Ralph Harvey. Burial was in the Methodist Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Bowman was the son of Alfred and Hattie White Bowman and was born March 8, 1913, in Ivyville, Iowa. On April 15, 1978, he married Alyce (Dolly) Kinder in College Springs, Iowa.
He was born and lived in Iowa until moving to Doland, South Dakota, in 1957. Mr. Bowman was a combine operator and bluegrass stripper. In 1980 he moved from Doland to Clark, South Dakota.
Mr. Bowman was a member of the United Methodist Church in Villisca, Iowa He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of Clark, South Dakota; two sons, Paul Bowman and Richard Bowman both of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Janiece) Rodman of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Ted (Phyllis) Farrell of North Haldeon, New Jersey; two step-daughters, Mrs. Charles (Peggy) Whipp of Neosho, Missouri and Mrs. Steve (Sue) Graham of College Springs, Iowa; one sister, Vera Bryson of Vista, California; 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were by the Roland-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Corning.
