Arthur Leroy White, son of Alfred and Elizabeth Harlow White, was born November 4, 1875, at Brooks, Iowa, and departed this life on Monday, November 2, 1964, at Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 29 days. He was one of a family of eight children, six of whom preceded him in death.

He attended the Brooks School and at the death of his father, while he was still quite young, he and a brother, Fred, took over the farming at their home. As a young man he joined the First Adventist Church and remained ever faithful in his belief.

On March 7, 1901, he was united in marriage to Flora A. Shewman in Brooks. They made their home near Brooks until 1909 when they moved to Plainview, Texas. Two years later they returned to Brooks. In 1914, a son, Ansell, came to cheer their home.

In the spring of 1919 the family moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where they made their home until May of 1932 when they again returned to Brooks and cared for his aged mother until her death.

In his later years, "Artie" as he was known to eveyone, followed the painting trade. He took great pride in his work and wanted perfection whether the job was large or small. His jovial way, honesty and fair dealing with his fellow man gained him the respect of all who knew him.

In August 1957 death claimed his beloved companion, the shock and the loneliness from which he never fully recovered. He continued living in his home until October 3 of this year when his health failed and entered a rest home in Villisca, Iowa.

He is survived by a son, Ansell and wife, Goldie of Creston; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Chrome Hupp of Los Angeles, California; a brother-in-law, Glen Shewman of Brooks; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 4, 1964, at 2 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Iowa, with Rev. Mrs. H. Peters officiating. Music was by Mrs. Joe Cook. Pallbearers were Charles Chapman, Ernest Lawrence, Roy Thompson, Lowell Odell, Ivan Heaton and Loren Fuller. Interment was in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
