The Creston Gazette of Tuesday gives currency to rumors of a terrible tragedy alleged to have been committed at Nevinsville, in Adams County, Tuesday morning. The victim was Miss Abbie Chamberlain, formerly of Creston, and her step-father, a Mr. Goodman, is the murderer. It is said Goodman tried to drive the girl, who has lately been confined, away from home, but owing to her condition she could not leave, which so infuriated Goodman that he stabbed her in the left breast, killing her instantly. The Gazette does not vouch for the truth of the story, but it gives it as heard from other parties.
