A very pretty wedding occurred at the home of Thadeus S. Fickel of Carl township on Christmas morning (December 25, 1901) when his lovely daughter, Laura, was married to Mr. Luther F. Shinkel, Rev. A. J. Coe of the M.E. Church officiating. Besides the immediate family, there were among the guests; Mr. John Shinkel and wife, Benj. Shinkel and wife, Grant Shinkel,Frank Steel and wife, Miss Jennie McClure, Ollie Ridout, Clarence Walker, Bert Dir and others. After congratulations the company sat down to the long tables that fairly groaned under the weight of good things which Mrs.Fickel knows so well how to prepare, to which all did full justice.
Many beautiful and useful gifts were presented to the bride. Mr. Shinkel is one of our successful farmers and takes his wife to the home he has prepared on his farm two miles norheast fom Carl, where after January 1, they will be at home to a large circle of their friends.
