Hiram Cole
(November 16, 1857 - June 20, 1900)

As we go to press, we learn of the death of Hiram Cole, of Summerset township, which occured at 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday. The funeral services will likely be held on Friday although no definite arrangements have at present writing been made. Source - Adair County Democrat, Greenfield, Iowa, Thursday, June 21, 1900, p.1

Last Sad Rites
The funeral services over the remains of Hiram Cole, of Summerset township, were said on Friday. The services at the house were conducted by Rev. Bertha Bowers, of Orient. The funeral address deliverred by her was very practical and impressive. After leaving the house the remains were taken in charge by the I.O.O.F. of which lodge the deceased was a member. At the grave the funeral service of the order was conducted by Noble Grand, H. G. Lynch. The deceased was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the members of the lodge turned out in respect to their dead neighbor. There was a large crowd in attendance, to pay the last tribute to a brother, friend and neighbor. Source - Adair County Democrat, Greenfield, Iowa, Thursday, June 28, 1900, p.1
