The Adair News, Friday, April 8, 1938:

Last rites were held at the home Sunday at 2 p.m. for John A. Cooper, well known farmer near Adair, who passed away Friday morning just two days before his eighty-second birthday. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. M. DeBerg, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment was at Sunnyhill Cemetery. The rites were largely attended.
