Fred Arnold Woodside,72, Adair County farmer, passed away at his home in Washington Township Friday forenoon, Nov.7,1952.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Nov.9 at Avondale Church with Rev.Joe Mason of Massena, conducting the last rites. Mrs. Don Campbell and Mrs. Dean Stuva sang 2 hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Sweet By And By", accompanied by Graydon Asay on the piano. Those who attended the casket were Clyde Archer, William Johnson, Tom Johnson, Lon Davis, Harold Davis and John Gordon. Interment was in the Mt.Zion Cemetery.
Fred Arnold Woodside, son of Nancy Ellen and Miles Wilburn Woodside, was born Jan.1,1880, 5 miles north of Prescott, Adams County, Iowa, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 6 days.
When he was 2 years old, he moved with his parents to the farm home in Washington Township in Adair County. The family spent 2 years in Creston, where he attended school and then returned to the home in Adair County. With the exception of 4 years his life was lived at the home from which he was called to his eternal rest.
On Nov.6,1912, he was united in marriage with Myrtle Mae Boggs of Albia. They became the parents of 3 children all of whom survive their father.
Mr. Woodside was a loyal friend and a loving husband and father. While his chief interest in life was in his home where he worked industriously till halted by ill health, he was also an extensive reader and was interested in civic affairs.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children: Albea Mary SAaylor of Richland; Ethel Mae at home and Clyde Wilburn of Washington Township. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren Betty Lou and Billy Dean Saylor and Sharon Kay Woodside; 2 sisters Mrs. Grace M.Timmerman of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Gladys Howard of Omaha, Neb.; 2 brothers M.Frank and Ross W. of Washington Township; 1 aunt Mrs.Dora Havens of Greenfield; 2 uncles J.H.Arnold of Prescott and Elmer Arnold of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
