Funeral Held Monday For Glen McCartney

Funeral services were held Monday morning June 20,1983 for Glen A.McCartney, 82 of Greenfield. Glen died June 17 at the Adair County Memorial Hospital. Rev.Charles D.Gilbert and Carl A.Carlson officiated at the rite held at the United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m.
Larry Icenbice was the soloist singing "Have Thine Own Way Lord" and "Good Night and Good Morning" with Alice Hogan at the organ.
Mr. McCartney will be remembered as a favorite employee at Carlson's Super Valu, when they opened their doors in 1960. He also farmed, worked for Adair County and the City of Fontanelle, before his retirement.
Interment was in the Fontanelle Cemetery with the following casketbearers; Mark Larson, David Lundy, David Larson, Marvin Larson, Dennis Stowell and Greg Dunkerson. Honorary bearers were Glen Tharp, Otis Bailey, Ernest Queck, Vernon Bakerink and Paul Reichardt.
He leaves to mourn his wife the former Nellie Wambold Chambers; a daughter Janice [Mrs. Ralph Gruber] of Fontanelle; 5 stepchildren including Jean Larsen and husband of Casey; 1 grandson and 3 grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; 2 sisters Ruyth Rohner and husband Glen of Fontanelle and Lois Dresback and husband Floyd of Jamaica; nieces and other relatives.
