Paul Ferguson, Greenfield resident since 1974, died at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines Monday Sept. 28. He had attained the age of 88 years. After retirement, he worked at Mac's Electric here for several years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 30, at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Georghe Thurman officiating. LarryIcenbice was the soloist and accompained by Janna Nelson, sang 2 hymns, "In the Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".
In charge of flowers, were Marie Denton, Marie Sackett and Leita Kinyon. Forming an honorary escort were: Kay Willer, Denice Hanke, Debra Locascio, Joann Mitchell, Angela Williams, Diana Lyle, Nena Ferguson, Melissa Ferguson and Ginger Christensen.
Interment was in the Greenfield Cemetery, and the pallbearers included Kevin Welsch, Rick Hanke, Cory Mitchell, Alan Mitchell, Steven Ferguson, Douglas Ferguson, Curtis Ferguson, Tom Lyle, Scott Willer, Dennis Hanke, Gary Williams, Thomas Locasio, Jim Christensen and Lindy Christiansen. Steen Funeral Home of Greenfield made the professional arrangements.
Paul was born in Nebraska and graduated from the Guide, Rock, Nebraska High School in 1923. He taught in rural school and attended barber school and later barbered.
He marreid Inez Hagan in Nebraska and they were parents of 3 sons and 2 daughters. He married Rosa Chambers in 1974 after the death of his 1st wife in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; a twin sister; grandson David Ferguson and a daughter-in-law Dolores Ferguson.
Surviving are his wife Rosa of Greenfield; 3 sons, Bill and wife Verna Mae of Greenfield; Bob of Orient and Ron and wife Karen of Adair; 2 daughters, Marlene Mitchell and husband Jack of Jefferson, and Kathy Welsch and husband John of Fontanelle; stepdaughters Darlene Hanke and husband Arnie of Marshalltown and Lorna Christensen of Baltimore, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
