John Richard Faga, 67, of Adair, passed away Sept.7,2002.
Jack was born in Guthrie County, Dec.16, 1935, the son of Richard and Loretta [Lalley] Faga.
He grew up in Adair County where he attended rural schools and graduated from Casey High School in 1954.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad before entering the United States Army in 1958. He served in Germany from 1958-1960.
Upon returning from service he started farming.
On May 4,1963, he was married to Linda Eddy at All Saints Church in Stuart. They farmed on the William Hughes farm and then the Dayton Tracy farm south of Casey. In 1970 they moved to the Faga family farm south of Casey and continued to farm.
In 1983 Jack started work for Noland Feed and Fertilizer in Adair where he has worked since. He and Linda continued to farm part time with livestock.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 4-H leader and was a member of the Adair County Pork Producers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife Linda; 2 sons Mike and wife Kelly of Ottumwa and Steve of Waverly; 1 daughter Susan Sigwarth and husband Mark of Cedar Falls; 3 grandchildren Madison and Conner Faga and Jonathan Sigwarth; 1 brother Jim Faga and wife Ev of Story City; 2 sisters Colleen Hurd and husband Bill of Huxley and Mary Jensen and husband Ray of Fontanelle; 1 aunt Mary Devereux of Adair; his mother and father-in-law George and Rosa Eddy of Greenfield; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept.11 at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart with Father David Fleming, Father John Haugen and Dave Richter, reader and co-concelebrants.
Music was provided by Ida Griffith, organist, and Sara Frankl song leader.Pallbearers were Rex Noland, Neil Kingery, Tom Smull, Cleon Klemish, Richard Dolan, Jim Smull, Ronny Ferguson and Jim Murphy.
Honorary pallbearers were Norman Kading, Dave Kading, Phil Kading, Dale Stetzel and Earl Joint.
Interment was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Adair with Military Rites.
