Lucinda (Scofield) McKee

Lucinda Scofield was born at Romulus, Seneca Co., New York, March 9th, 1922. died September 19th, 1907. Age 85 years, 6 months, 10 days, being the last one of a family of thirteen children. At an early age she moved with her parents, to near Cleveland, Ohio. She was united in marriage, December 14th, 1850, to James W. Martin, who died in 1855. From Ohio she removed to Peoria County, Illinois, where she was united in marriage, August 25th, 1857, to David McKee, with whom she moved to Adair county, Iowa in February, 1873, and he preceded her to the grave seven years ago, on the same day of the month. Since her husband's death she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Rostat, in Grand River township, Adair county, Iowa.

At the age of 18 she united with the Baptist church and lived a consistent Christian life. She was a faithful wife and a devoted mother. She leaves children, one son and two daughter, and fifteen grandchildren to mourn her loss.

The funeral services were held in the Baptist church, on Sunday, September 22 at 11 o'clock. The pastor, Amil A. Ostrich officiated. The large gathering of friends and neighbors showed the esteem in which Mrs. McKee was held. The body was laid to rest in Greenfield Cemetery.
