Neal R. Balius 79, of Eden Prairie, MN. passed away October 20, 2013. Formerly of Sioux City.

Viewing is Wednesday October 23rd at Washburn-McReavy Eden Prairie Chapel from 4-7 p.m. with family. Interment Friday October 25th at 11:30, Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, with Military Honors.

Neal was born January 12th, 1934 in Armstrong, IA. to Freda I. (Queck) Balius and was raised in Fontanelle, IA. He and his mother moved to Des Moines where he graduated from Lincoln High School. After High School he started what would become a longtime career at Northwestern Bell. He joined the Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was involved in the Rotary, Pres. of Telco Credit Union, United Way, Knights of Columbus. Volunteered for the National Hot Air Balloon Races, an active member of the Catholic Church, and enjoyed boating with his family.

Survived by his beloved partner of 25 yrs., Barb Neumann and Mary Lou Culbertson mother of his children, Ann (Bob) Shepherd, Jacqueline (Tom) Udell, Janice (Todd) Waggoner, Mary Beth (Bob) Jones, Neal Jr. (Karen), Mike (Rachael), and Robert (Stacey) Balius; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
