Ruth Means, 90, of Fontanelle
Ruth Means was born on October 25, 1922, in Adair County, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Mary (Tipling) Glade. She passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 90
Ruth lived most of her life in Adair County and graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1940. On March 29, 1940, she was united in marriage to Marvin Means in Atlantic, Iowa. To this union one daughter, Candy Kay was born. Marvin and Ruth farmed in Adair County after Marvin's return from W.W. II until they retired and moved into Fontanelle.
Ruth designed, pieced, and hand quilted over 250 quilts. She was a lifetime member of the Highland and Fontanelle United Methodist Church. She began singing at the age of five. She was an accomplished vocalist, choir member, and pianist. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who loved her family, friends, church and community.
She is survived by her daughter, Candy Marchese and husband Tom on Omaha, Nebraska; niece, Connie Breeden of Carpenter, Wyoming, nephew, Ronald Allaback of Cheyenne, Wyoming; cousins, Kyle Breeden and family of Carpenter, Wyoming, Misty and Blair Balls and family of North Logan, Utah; special neighbors, Shawn and Helen Tipling of Fontanelle; other relatives and friends.Graveside Services: Will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastor Cathy Nutting will officiate the service.
