Grace was born October 18, 1888 near Idaho Springs, Co.,and passed away at the Adair county Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa, on November 1,1979. She was the only child of Fred and Katherine (Briscoe) Darling.

In 1910 she married Clifford L. Sulgrove of Bridgewater, Iowa. They farmed in Adams and Adair counties before moving to Bridgewater in 1958. They were the parents of 3 children, Merlyn, Marjorie and Lois.

She was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was active in many church activities. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She graduated from Bridgewater High School and taught 3 years in the rural schools of Adair and Cass counties. Grace was one of the pioneers who grew up with the country and saw its many changes. She knew the hardships and privations but always accepted it with courage and optimism. Her loving disposition endeared her to her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends.

She leaves 2 daughters, Marjorie Roberts of Perry, Iowa; Lois (Dale) Roberts of Bridgewater, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Jeane Sulgrove, Lowry, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Gladys Johnson and Daisy Feazell of Greenfield and many other relatives and friends.
