CARRIE ANN WELCH

Carrie Ann Welch, daughter of Benjamin and Martha Boyd Fry, was born June 13, 1879 near the Mount Vernon church south of Stuart in Adair County, Iowa and passed away August 1, 1965 at the Sycamore Park Convalescent Hospital in Los Angeles, California. She was one of eight children, seven girls and one boy.

On January 14, 1903, she was married to Porter William Welch. To this union was born one son, Floyd E. and a daughter who died in infancy.

In her early life she joined the Mt. Vernon Methodist church and continued to live a Christian life through the years.

In 1919 she became a member in the Order of Eastern Star at Earlham, later to Adelphic Chapter of Des Moines, Iowa and then to Eagle Rock Chapter at Los Angeles, California where she was a very active member. For the past seven years, with her husband, they were honored by being chosen as Mother and Dad of the chapter. They were chosen King and Queen of the Golden Wedding Couples Club of Los Angeles having been married over 62 years.

Survivors include her husband, one son, Floyd and his wife Lois of Aurora, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Slavens and Mrs. Belle Walton, both of Stuart; one brother, Frank Fry of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
