Services Held For Mrs. Jennie/Jane Wight

Graveside services for Mrs. Jennie Wight, 88, were held at the Greenfield cemetery Tuesday afternoon, March 3, with Rev. Anthony Blankers, Methodist pastor officiating.

Mrs. Wight, daughter of the late Frank and Eliza Johnston spent her early girlhood days on the old home farm near Arbor Hill and resided in the area before moving to Elmhurst, Ill. to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Helen Stryker, a member of the teaching staff at Elmhurst and to be near her son, Mr. and Mrs. Raulin Wight and family of Downers Grove, Ill.

Mrs. Wight was brought to the Bickford-Murray Funeral Home Tuesday morning, where her many friends were privileged to call.

A memorial courtesy dinner was served for the relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Black, the only remaining sister of Mrs. Wight remaining. Mr. Black's sisters, Mrs. Kirk Cochran and Mrs. Don Crawford of Lorimor and Mrs. Harold Mayers of Winterset took over the courtesies and presided at the coffee service. The same courtesy was extended when the guests returned to the home following the services, before departing for their homes.

Other close relatives paying their last respects at the funeral rites were Mrs. Black's daughter, Mrs. Van Buboltz who came to Greenfield from Carbondale, Ill. Other nieces and nephews included Mr. and Mrs. Don Tyler of Lenox, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Carney, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Johnston and Wm. Evans of Creston; also Mrs. Mildred Heffel of Creston and Mrs. Reva Cash, wife of Dr. Paul Cash of 3422 Wakonda Court, Des Moines, and many other relatives from Illinois and elsewhere. Many Greenfield friends met the procession at the cemetery.

Miss Barbara Wight is a relative of the late R. L. Wight, husband of Mrs. Wight who preceded his wife in death several years ago.
