Mary Ellen's and brother was Martin Wagner and sisters were Alice Griswold (deceased), Wilma Fagan, Cleo Gipple and Gertude Langlet. Leo's ancestry was Irish-German. Lura was French, Pennsylvania Dutch and Scottish (or English).

Mary Ellen was a stay-at-home mom, raising chickens, gardens, helping with the farm chores, cooking and housekeeping. Her birth date is December 23, 1920.

Vernon enjoyed farming, raising livestock and repairing his machinery. His hobby was fishing.

In their running-around days, they enjoyed dancing. Vernon's birth date was November 20, 1914.

They enjoyed their children and their school activities, and were proud to see them all graduate from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 6, 1990.

Vernon passed away June 1996 and was buried at the Fontanelle Cemetery.
