Front row: Harold Fern Akers, Robert "Bobby" Pine, Russell "Bud" Wahlert, Nyle Akers, Robert Richter (1927-2006). Birth and death years have been provided for individuals deceased by January 2011. There is no date on the photo, but based on the approximate age of various students it appears to have been taken circa 1938.

The teacher for the above class Emma Ludwig, pictured in the middle of the back row. Emma taught at Audubon Township #3 for many years, after first attending the school as a student. Audubon Township #3 was also known as Ludwig School because the Ludwig home stood nearby. According to Emma's obituary: "She attended rural school in Audubon Township No. 3 near Exira and graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1924. Emma later received her bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Drake University. Emma taught rural schools near Exira for 34 years and then taught elementary school for the Exira Community Schools for 13 years until she retired in 1973."
