She married CHARLES LEONIDAS MCCORD 20 Mar 1901 in Exira, Audubon, Iowa, son of SAMUEL MCCORD and HESTER HILL. He was born 01 Dec 1877 in Exira, Audubon, Iowa, and died 20 Aug 1941 in Atlantic, Cass, Iowa.

Notes for HATTIE EMMA HUYCK:
In a book found at Fort Wayne, IN public library entitled "Audubon County" it shows Hattie Huyck as High School Alumni of 1896 class with two other students listed in class. I have a copy of this in her (Hattie Huyck McCord) file.

In Hattie's obituary: Dated October 4 1906 (Audubon County Journal)
Harriet E. McCord Died at the Home of Her Parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Huyck, interment at Exira, Monday. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Huyck was born at Exira, Iowa on the 21st day of August 1879. She died on Saturday, the 29th day of September 1906, age 27 years, 1 month and 8 days. When thirteen years old, under the preaching of Elder Joseph Walters, she confessed her faith in the Savior and was baptized and together with her mother became a member of the Christian Church. On the 2nd day of June 1896 having completed her studies, she graduated from the high school in Exira and for one year devoted herself to teaching. She was married to Mr. Charles McCord on the 20th day of March 1901. Two Children gladdened their union -one died in infancy. She was born, married and died at the home of her parents west of Exira. Mrs. McCord was taken seriously ill about four months ago and from that time until the morning of her death she was a great sufferer. The only time since then that she felt strong enough to go out in public was last Decoration Day when she rode to the cemetery and assisted in covering with flowers the graves of the old soldiers. She came to her childhood home on the 16th if June little that she would never leave the shelter of it's roof until she was carried to the tomb. As a Christian she was a faithful prayerful, consecrated. As a daughter obedient and dutiful. As a sister and wife and mother, loyal and loving. During her illness she was ever hopeful, anxious to recover for the sake of her husband and son-yet fully resigned and submissive to the Divine Will. "Knowing that all things “death as Well as life" worked together for good of them that love God, who are the called according to his purpose." Realizing that the end was near, while yet in the full possession of all her faculties she called for her father and mother, brothers and sisters, as also her husband together that she might bid them all good bye. Last of all she called her son, the pride and darling of her heart, and putting her arms about him, Gave him her parting blessing. Her end was peace. She has passed and passed up to dwell with god forever. Beside her parents and little boy she leaves an affectionate husband, three sisters and two brothers together with a circle of friends to mourn her departure and while they sorrow, "yet they sorrow not as those ho have no hope" for their faith assures them in reference to their well beloved, that for her” to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"

The funeral services were held at the Christian Church last Tuesday afternoon at 2 PM, the pastor Elder H. A. Pallister addressing the immediate relatives and the large congregation gathered to manifest their fellowship with the bereaved from the words found in the 13th and 14th verses of the 4th chapter of Thessalonians "I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning those who are asleep, that ye sorrow not as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again even so them also who sleep in Jesus died and rose again even so them also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with him” After which the remains were taken to the Exira cemetery and laid to rest. `

We also have a prayer card that was given at the funeral of Hattie Huyck McCord. Both that and her obituary are in her file Hattie Huyck McCord.

In the Cass County Democrat date October 11, 1906: MRS. CHAS. MCCORD DEAD Mrs. Charles McCord or Atlantic died of quick consumption Saturday at the home of her parents Mrs. and Mrs. Huyck of Exira. Her sister, Roxie, left here on the train Saturday morning hoping to see her alive again, but when she got to Atlantic she heard the sad news of her death. The funeral took place at Exira Monday. Deceased leaves to mourn her loss a husband and one child 4 years old, father, mother and other relatives besides many friends. (This is in Hattie Huyck McCord's file)

FROM EVERY STORMY WIND THAT BLOWS

1) FROM EVERY STORMY WIND THAT BLOWS,
FROM EVERY SWELLING TIDE OF WOES, THERE IS A CALM,
A SWEET RETREAT; TIS FOUND BEFORE THE MERCY SEAT.

2) THERE IS A PLACE WHERE MERCY SHEDS THE
OIL OF GLADNESS ON OUR HEADS, A PLACE THAN ALL BESIDE
MORE SWEET. It IS THE HEAVNLY MERCY SEAT.

3) THERE IS A SPOT WHERE SOULS UNITE, AND
SAINT MEETS SAINT IN HEAVNLY LIGHT; THO SUNDERED FAR, BY
FAITH THEY MEET BEFORE THE COMMON MERCY SEAT.

4) AH, WHITHER COULD WE FLEE FOR AID WHEN
TEMPTED DESOLATE, DISMAYED? OR HOW THE HOSTS OF
HELL DEFEAT, HAD SUFFRING SAINTS NO MERCY SEAT?

5) THITHER BY FAITH WE'D UPWARD SOAR,
LET TIME AND SENSE SEEM ALL NO MORE;
FOR FREELY GOD OUR SOULS CAN GREET,
WHERE GLORY CROWNS THE MERCY SEAT.
