School Notes - Franklin No. 6
~Postville Herald, Thursday, November 5, 1936;
page 7
We have completed eight weeks of school
with an enrollment of fourteen, five of whom have had
perfect attendance thus far.
We competed with the Volney school twice this year. The
first time we entertained them in a game of kittenball,
defeating them with a score of 15 to 2. The next time we
went to their school and watched them demonstrate some
stunts. We had contests in head-standing, wheelbarrow
races, rooster fights, and a game of long base. We also
enjoyed playing such games as Farmer-in-the-Dell, and
Streets and Alleys. Now we are looking forward to some
nice days for more such contests. - Gretchen Gruber,
teacher
