Taylor twp. No. 6, 1872
T.F. Healey, county superintendent of schools

Tuesday, March 5, Forenoon

D.C. Dickson, teacher; number on roll, 46, present, 22. No visitors at any time. When Mr. D., took charge of the school he found the scholars deficient in everything, he says; he therefore made a speciality of practical arithmetic and determined to advance them in that branch, which to his credit be it said, he has done, most thoroughly and practically too, as his A class answered with perfect correctness every problem asked of them.

In penmanship too Mr. D., labored hard to instruct his scholars and with a good result, while in reading, grammar and history but a sorry show was made. Mr. Dickson though a rather eccentric young man, possesses within him the qualifications for making a teacher at the very highest order.

George Banks and Mary Fitzgerald take the lead in this school.

Excelsior School notes, 1935
Sylvia Monserud, Teacher

Nora Ann Monserud is the only one who has been neither absent nor tardy during the first two periods.

We had a Hallowe'en party, and the losers in the spelling contest were the entertainers. Leila Dougherty, Paul Krapfl, Wesley Monserud and Emma Hanson were our guests.

Our visitors this period were: Leila Dougherty, Paul Krapfl, Mrs. L.A. Weover, Mrs. A.R. Hanson, Mrs. A.M. Monserud and Mrs. Will Monserud.

We all miss Billy, Alfred Monserud's pony, who is no longer with us.
