Harris Funeral Home Records
1900-1906
Postville, IA

Important! Please Read!
These records were handwritten and in many cases very difficult to read due to the fading of the ink and/or the handwritting itself. I have attempted to transcribe them accurately, but the researcher should expect errors. While transcribing these records I also consulted area cemetery and newspaper records in an attempt to help decipher some of the names and/or dates. In the course of my research, it became apparent that the Harris Funeral Home records contain a multitude of errors and inconsistancies, including:

-Surname spellings appearing to be phonic, rather than how the family spelled their surname
-Dates of death in conflict with cemetery records or published obituaries
-Age of the deceased different than cemetery records or published obituaries
-First names of the deceased being different than shown in cemetery records or published obituaries

The last column of the transcription contains notes from the transcriber and do not appear on the original records. All question marks (?), dash marks (--) and brackets [ ] were placed by the transcriber and do not appear on the original record. Because the ages given on the record were crammed between the names, it was often impossible to tell which person they belonged to. Unless certain, only the age in years were included in the transcription.

Please use this transcription only as a guide and verify the information.
