Postville Picnic In California
Iowa is the one state in the union that contributes more to California's greatness than any other, and we do not believe any community of its size in Iowa has contributed more generously to the population of the state that made the Golden Gate famous than has Postville. Folks from this good old town are so numerous around the Los Angeles and Pasadena localities that they hold a Postville picnic annually at Long Beach, have a splendid time and the event is of sufficient importance to call for a write up in the daily press.
The picnic this year was held on Tuesday of last week, March 23rd, in the pavilion at Long Beach pier and nearly a half-hundred were present to enjoy a delightful social season and a big picnic dinner, and in speaking of the latter Hall Roberts says "the feed was equal to a Congregational donation in Postville."
From lists sent home by Hall Roberts and Mrs. Hugh Shepherd we glean the following names of those present:
Prof. J. F. Smith Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hart Misses Pearl and Ruth Hart Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Cornell Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Hawkins Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Skelton Mr. and Mrs. James Parker Mr. and Mrs. W. W.
