The following quote came from the "History of Guthrie and Adair County Iowa, 1884 " "A burying ground was laid out in 1869, and is now known as Richland Cemetery. The cemetery in connection with the Union Church, on section 15, was laid out March 3, 1871. The first internment was a child of A. H. Fisk. Hiram Fisk was the first grown person buried there." In May 2005, my daughter and I visited Adair County and its cemeteries. We drove to every one except those that were on private property or otherwise inaccessible. I will be putting on photos and a small commentary for each one. We visited right before Memorial Day which was a perfect time to see them in all of their finery. The lawns were newly mowed and the peonies were in full bloom and gorgeous! |
