Gone To His Reward - 27 Nov. 1942

On Friday morning, about the hour of seven, Mr. August Hansohn breathed his last. He suffered for years with bronchitis, and to the past few years, with hardening of the arteries. He had attained the age of 82 years, 5 months and 10 days. He is survived by two sons, Henry and Albert, of Kiron, two brothers, Christian, of Kiron, and Fred of Denison, and four grandchildren.

At Blumenhagen, Province Brandenburg, Germany, the deceased father saw the light of day. He was the son of Christian and Wilhelmina Hansohn. As a youth of 24 he emigrated from Germany to our United States, reaching our shores on Nov. 8, 1884. On July 9 1887, he married Bertha Giermann in Denison. This union was blessed by God with two sons. His wife was taken from his side on 2 May 1927. Mr. Hansohn lived a quiet life, an active and progressive farmer, providing for the wants of his family, and devoted to his God and church. In 1891 he was one of the founders of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stockholm township, and nine years held office as an elder.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from the home of his son, Albert, and from the St. Johns Lutheran Church, the pastor, Rev. Reith, officiating. Special singing was rendered. The beautiful floral tributes spoke of his high respect. The pall bearers were Henry F. Hansohn, William Hansohn, H. W. Pithan, Henry Giermann, Joseph Giermann and Henry Stehr. Interment was made in the family lot in St. Johns Lutheran cemetery. A grandson, Walter Hanson with the U.S.Army in New Jersey was home for the funeral.
