Funeral services for Mrs. Warren (Helen Bernice) Werling, 68, were held at St. Mary's church Sept. 18 with the Rev. Joseph P. Hines officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Pallbearers were William Kohl Jr., William Kohl, Sean Shanahan, Chuck Zvacek, Stuart Werling and Floyd Tipton. Mary Wethington was organist. Harold and Wilma Ford and Jim and Roberta Parker were in charge of flowers. The Rosary was held at the Sheets and Son Funeral home Sept. 17.

Mrs. Werling died at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sept. 14.

The daughter of Charles and Lena Olsen Hipple, she was born at Tipton July 26, 1916 and was educated in the Tipton schools. She was married to Daniel A. Kohl in Tipton in 1939. He died in 1972. She was married to Warren Werling at Mt. Vernon in 1975.

Mrs. Werling served as assistant Tipton city clerk from 1958 to 1978 when she retired.

A lifelong resident of Tipton, she was a member of St. Mary's church, St. Mary's Guild, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Gary-Whalen Post 123, past secretary of the Tipton Senior Citizens and a member of the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She is survived by her husband, 2 sons, Jack Kohl, Clay Center, Kans. and Bob Kohl, Rock Island, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Russ (Dana) McBride, Cedar Rapids; 2 stepsons, Jack Werling, Mt. Vernon and Jeff Werling, Altoona; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Rodney (Ann) Venditti, Tipton; 21 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Richard (Bess) Zvacek, Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Florence Hamacher, Highland, Ind., Mrs. Roberrt (Shirley) Shanahan, Cedar Rapids; and 2 brothers, Lester Hipple, Marion and Don Hipple, Arlington Heights, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and a stepson.
